Essential business

Postby [omega] » Wed Mar 25, 2020 11:00 pm

At the moment I'm jamin pubg to take my mind off the lockdown.
Due to this Corona virus its put my wife into a frenzy with disinfecting everything.
I work at the airport and its business as usual.
As part of an essential part of business I'll be at work.
So I'm making the most out of my rdo's (rostered days off)

apart from that having the kids at home , its online schooling for them.

What to do? For 4 weeks
I've got the Armad tfs out for them to play with.

IT Support for an essential business, so it has been all hands on with 10-12 hour days trying to get IT equipment to people and then teaching them how to use a computer.
Hopefully the crazy dies down soon, and then I can try the working from home thing.

I'm also IT for a healthcare provider. The last week and a bit has been pretty crazy.
A couple of things like VPN and softphone clients that have been on the back-burner for years all of a sudden became high priority.
Now to try working from home with a 2 and 5 year old running around (the 12 year old just stays in her room :p)

Stay safe TFNZ ;)

I work in education. Teachers are not ready for online learning. Some are excellent, most are not.
Its not even just about skill (though most is), its about attitude.
Frustrating. People who are meant to be ambassadors of learning refusing to do any necessary learning themselves.

I work in allied healthcare so are considered essential services, we have essentially cut our staff in half, with one half at home and the other half having the patient contact at work for a week, then it gets swapped over to reduce contact with the public and to reduce exposureof all staff. Means we have a skeleton crew at work But as we have had to increase the appointmentines in order to clean further between patient appointments. What’s made this worse for us is we had just installed a new $8million treatment unit but when lockdown happened we weren’t able to send staff away to training centres overseas, so we were under the pump a little anyways, this just makes things more challenging.
It’s going to be a long 2-3 months (I have no doubt that NZ is going to F this up majorly).
no sig as photobucket nerfed it all
