can't say I have o86, i try to stay away from music videos because I don't like to get imagery stuck to a song. But hey, how about 'Universe In A Ball'? that's a neat lil track.

listened to 'Songs To Fan The Flames Of Discontent' by Refused.

Great lil album, and they were very much ahead of their time when they put it out!

Oh yeah, and Tom Waits' 'Mule Variations' album.

Tom Waits is great, he makes me feel like i'm chainsmoking and drinking bourbon in a seedy bar - and considering I'm straightedge it's strange to say that as a compliment!

High-five! That's a quality listen right there.

Ahh, Tom Waits. The Piano Has Been Drinking remains my favourite. There's a friend of my mother's that sings it awesomely, and the best part is that he does chainsmoke and swig bourbon, so the rasp in his voice is perfect.

I'm currently listening to Mazzy Star and Enigma. Felt like something mellow, was in a shitastic mood today.

If you feel like getting your cry-wank on o86, I highly recommend 'I Am A Bird Now' by Antony And The Johnsons.. fantasically depressing.

And of course, self titled Portishead.

Ooh, may have to have a looksee, sometimes I am in the mood for heinously depressing music.

Although I've not found anything to best Swans. Swans are usually my first go-to choice when people ask what obscure bands I'm into. Their early stuff is more like violence in audio form than music (Think proto-industrial, like Birthday Party. They have winning song titles like Raping A Slave), and their later stuff is intensely self-absorbed and acoustic. o86 recommends listening to the track God Damn The Sun.

Although there's always Leonard Cohen. Mmm, Famous Blue Raincoat. I wish I'd seen him when he toured here.

EDIT: Forgot Antimatter. Try "Portrait of the Young Man as an Artist" on for size. I heart the title so much.

3-disc album! This is going to take a while to absorb properly!

I must get and listen to this. I bought and enjoyed Ys so I should keep following. How much was it worth?

I picked it up in Melbourne for $29, it'll probably be about $35 - $37NZ
