With some Transformers, you can spend hours and hours just trying out different ways to mis-transform them into different modes. Well, I know I do that sometimes with the F-22 limb-bot on Energon Superion. Got a bit of a Star Wars Snow Speeder (I think) or Vic Viper (the ship in the Gradius series) in him.
Beast Machines deluxe Jetstorm is one fun toy to mistransform. His official repaints actually often have his alt-mode wings reversed. If you flip his legs around, cover the hands and bend them to 90 degrees, notice how his back looks oddly like a different robot entirely - with weapon arms (push the missile in or out to retract a 'rifle' barrel). Also from standard bipedal robot mode, if you reverse the head and lay him down on his back, there's any number of ways you can create different wide jet plane configurations depending on how you display the legs or arms. I mean, you can flip the legs out and pretend they are utility arms (or put scale boxing gloves on them...).
Quite like it when you can find more functionality in the toy than was originally intended.

Ah yes, Soundwave's lamppost. An official mis-transformation. Had the camera out this evening, so thought I'd take a few snaps of deluxe Jetstorm and some of the many variations you can come up with by just lying him on his back and turning his head around. This one actually looks like a typical Cybertronian Seeker triangular jetpod thingy. Jet with service arms. Great for grappling. Store arms by flipping over the top or under. And quad-leg mode. Not stopping there, how about these Cybertron Scrap Metal Ramble's. I can't take credit for the jet mode on the left in the first picture - but I did make up the variations. - NKF

This one is from me, meant to put it up ages ago but forgot about it! Anyhow, this is my way of transforming universe2.0 Octane/ Tankor so that his shoulders aren't floating above his torso and so you don't have those ridiculous shoulderpads up in their air Mr. Ash's version: Hasbro version: I also like to stick his guns on his legs in robotmode, don't really fancy them as handguns when he's got that bigass blade to wield anyhow

Hmm, I tired that on mine today. I think I prefer the "Official" version myself. I like the shoulder pylons because they help visually balance out his gigantic calves. Anyway, this isn't quite in the spirit of the thread but I had a little accident transforming universe Inferno today. Damn loose arm sockets. Anyway, it lent itself to a silly photo op. Walking Firetruck of DOOM!!
