What figures did you want to like but couldn't?

Postby Monkey222 » Sun Jan 29, 2017 1:48 pm

So, I was unpacking my CW combiners for display, and I decided to add FoC Bruticus and I was reminded of how disappointing it was, despite wanting to like the set.

Are there any figures you wanted to like but for whatever reason just couldn't?

Fans toys Hound and MMC Mirage. Hounds transformation kind of sucked the joy out of owning him, and for some reason i couldn't shake the feeling that Mirage didn't quite fit in with the rest.

More recently TR Powermaster Prime. I really wanted to like him, but because he was so big and chunky he felt like he had less posability than the deluxes. Made him a lot less fun to play with

Alot of the titians return toys im a fan of complex transformations, so the saying i can transform them in my sleep comes to mind, them being so simple has taken away 1/4 of the fun for me

2014's Generations Nightbeat.

Nightbeat is one of my childhood fav toys (and one of the few survivors of childhood), so new Nightbeat was always a hope.

I already knew the mold was garbage, but blind hope is blind..

Highly unlikely, but I do hope for and actual deluxe Nightbeat out of Titans Return.

Titans return has largely been that way for me too. The biggest disappointment was fortress Maximus though. I REALLY wanted to be impressed with him but was so disappointed. And it's all due to the pretty much non transforming city mode. His space ship mode was my favorite in the end but even that sorely needed to be able to lock the legs together. Ultimately, Metroplex was a far better bot.

AGREED! Sphinx just looks out of place with the others. He is built well and all but feels more chugsy than masterpiece in aesthetics. I have him though but he is a stand in.

Also the last knight wave one. Mostly seem to be repainted of the figures I passed up on last time. They should call it the last repaint. But they won't because they won't be.

The Last Knight Berserker. I was excited for him because I love me some black SUV, and both of his modes look great, but getting him into vehicle mode is so frustrating that by the time you've done it you never want to see the toy again. It's a shellformer of Beast Wars Neo levels, but the shell doesn't want to peg together in the rear no matter what you do. There's no trick to it, you just have to keep trying until it miraculously works despite you doing literally nothing differently to the other 800 times it didn't come together.

Barricade from the same wave is also somewhat of a shellformer, but his transformation actually works and he's a great figure. (not $40 great, but I do like him)

Oh gee! Voyager AOE Grimlock. I hate everything about it. Proportions, transformation, colours... But it's praised so often, ahead of the Leader (which I think is superior but still average). The TLK version looks nicer but no way am I buying that mold again.

War dog.
The numbskull that came up with that transformation needs shooting. Mine is forever stuck in tank mode due to the pure frustration that is his transformation.
no sig as photobucket nerfed it all
