Sightings Thread Hong Kong

Postby Zippo » Thu May 12, 2016 12:06 pm

Over in Hong Kong at the moment and sadly the Transformers experience is limited - though also haven't been to many stores.

Newest RiD toys: Deluxe Thunderhoof and Quilfire, Scout with Minicons two pack
Combiner Wars: No 2016 Legends, 2nd Wave of Autobot cars are every where, Onslaught and Scattorshot, though did see G2 Menasor, only leader Megatron's
Hasbro Masterpiece Starscream stil on the shelf at Toys R Us.

Independent toy store called Wonderland Superstore has Japanese Masterpeice on the shelf, along with some random Japanese Animated.

Marvel Legends 6 inch well represented in stores, with Toys R Us also having some older multi packs on the shelf.

Hopefully I can get to "toy street" in Wan Chai soon

I was in HKG a couple of days ago.

Toys R Us at Ocean Terminal near the ferry have the Hasbro MP's, Streak, and Starscream. Also the Con exclusive Devastator along with the Hasbro one. Current wave of CW deluxes (Bruticus and Sky Reign) but no voyagers! Leader TC and SW there too. Didn't pay attention to RiD stuff but there was a lot there.

G2 Menasor and Superion there too. Also, I saw G2 Superion at Toyworld in Lower Hutt today for $250.

Toyz at the airport had just sold out of Sky Lynx and heaps of those chibi hero hobby G1 bots. I picked up an Ultra Magnus (leader) for my son. Can't wait to show him. Had all the MP's including newer ones like Tracks, Ratchet and Red Bee.

I forget the name of the shop at the airport but one wall is modelled after the G1 Prime alt mode and the shelves are within Primes trailer. Not as cool as it sounds, but still cool.

Isin mall was closed when I got there but they had absolutely everything amongst the 20 or so hobbyist shops there. Did a bit of window shopping/drooling.

Isn't it a small world Mr.Deflok!
Ocean Park TRU has the most stock of any TRU stores but compared to my memories of Singapore it was quite pathic.

Can't wait to hit some more independent stores and all the stores around Mon Kok

Hit up "toy street" this evening, and now we are talking. Tiny little stores packed full of toys from many different brands.

Saw the Classics Prime and Megatron and the Rodimus and Wreak Gar Platinum sets, along with tons of Masterpiece figures at prices (for new releases) that seem cheaper than buying direct from Japan.

Just wish I could take photos or video ...

Hit up Mong Kok today, and it was slightly disappointing that only two stores really had anything new and slightly older items for sale.

However the independent cube stores were amazing for the share number of items they cram into the space, just none of them had anything I was really interested in.

Definitely compare toy street and Mong Kok before purchasing anything.

Only got a few places I know left to check, but I think I will have to get some items from the USA after all.

Oh and sadly no pictures, all stores had a strict no camera policy, though trying to photograph would be hard anyway given the small spaces.

Visited Macau on Saturday and while I was being shown around by my cousin, he pointed out a large toy store called Kids Cavern.

Now this store was what I thought all toy stores in Hong Kong would be like, massive displays of a brand including featured Gundam area.

Transformers wise they had mix of Hasbro and Takara sharing the same shelf space and the one item that stood out was Deluxe Groove - about 20 just sitting there. Pricing was on the high side though

Depending on where you go there are still some interesting things about

Mong Kok (Kowloon side), Hobbybase had a whole bunch of new/old TFs. Power of the Primes Red Swoop and Ricochet $199 HKD. What surely must be the last of the Alternators (Rodimus, Mirage and Prime) at $450, same for Alternity Bumblebee

In's Point down the road is mostly Lego, but the odd TF store here and there. Wasn't much there bar a loose MP Bumblebee with Spike for $200 HKD.

Causeway Bay TRU - Lots of Siege, lots of PoP Moonracers and Novastars. $199.
Olympic TRU - what must have been the last of PoP Terrorcons (yay) $199.
Central TRU - Studio Series Rampage

TRUs all had the expensive G1 Optimus cab reissue, and their exclusive PoP Shuttle Blast Off, Repugnus and Counterpunches.

Sogo Causeway Bay - lots of the new Siege wave, Cassettes, Rescue Patrol, Chromia, SixGun, Soundwave. Studio Series Scrapmetal and Bonecrusher waves.

I'll be back in Hong Kong at the end of June, hoping some of the stuff I have to import will be around so I can grab it and figure out how to get it back home
